Amazon’s new Spanish headquarters will be located in the upcoming business district of Méndez Álvaro and plans to open in summer 2017. The building, a renovated industrial site from early 20th century, will move our Spain headquarters from Pozuelo de Alarcón to the new 12,000 square meters building in downtown Madrid. The new site will host Amazon’s current 400 corporate employees and provide us with total capacity for over 1,000 professionals as it continues to invest, expand, and create new jobs in Spain.

“Ecommerce continues to grow rapidly. As more and more Spanish families chose Amazon.es as their preferred shopping site we plan to keep investing heavily and creating jobs in Spain. We have already hired hundreds of highly talented people here and we are looking forward to hiring hundreds more,” says François Nuyts, Vice President Amazon Spain & Italy. “As part of our ongoing investment in Spain, we have secured a unique building, where current and future Amazon employees will be working to deliver new products, services and experiences for our customers in Spain and all over the world.”

The new Amazon office will be the south building of Prado Business Park, in Ramírez de Prado Street. Located in the upcoming business district of Méndez Alvaro it will have easy access to both the Prado-Castellana commercial axis and the M-30 ring. The site, which was the corporate building of the Standard Eléctrica –a former Spanish phone manufacturer– in the beginning of the 20th century, combines industrial architecture with contemporary design to create a functional and modern workspace. The building, which is managed by AXA IM – Real Assets on behalf of one of its clients, has been awarded with the BREEAM Excellence sustainable certification.

The new headquarters of Amazon in Spain will be connected to the Madrid public transport network with three Cercanías and three subway stations close by, all at walking distance. Amazon employees will also be able to benefit from several amenities within the complex such as a corporate gym, an outdoor leisure patio, a coffee shop and two restaurants.

Amazon is intensively hiring in Spain. The company, which currently employs more than 900 people both at its corporate offices and its Fulfilment Center, has over 60 open positions in Madrid. Amazon is looking for talented professionals aiming to rapidly innovate on behalf of customers, from Business Analysts or Solutions Architects to Shopping Effort Reduction Managers and Software Engineers. 5 years in Spain

Today Amazon has its corporate office in Pozuelo de Alarcón, where the company established its headquarters in 2012, a year after the launch of Amazon.es. This June, Amazon also opened in Madrid its Tech Hub in Southern Europe. Located in the Azca neighborhood the site currently hosts over 60 engineers developing new services and features for both Amazon Business, the B2B marketplace of Amazon.com, and the five European websites of Amazon. These tech teams will move to a dedicated space within the new Amazon Corporate building by July 2017.

Additionally, Amazon already operates a currently-in-expansion Fulfilment Center in San Fernando de Henares employing more than 500 permanent associates and has recently announced the construction of a second 63.000 square meters logistics site in Barcelona (El Prat), creating 1.500 new jobs in the next three years. The Barcelona Fulfilment Center is expected to start fulfilling customer orders in the fall of 2017.
