School begins a little later in Luxembourg than many European countries. The start date is in mid-September and this year, for the first time, many refugees will be joining the local school system. We’re partnering with the well-known local non-profit that operates separately from the government (NGO), Caritas Luxembourg. It is supporting children from an underprivileged background or refugees who recently arrived in the Grand Duchy, to prepare for the new school year. And we’re collaborating too, with 150 school bags and other supplies for families who can’t afford the costs of getting their children ready for the new school year. As you can see from the pictures, some primary school-age children to pick up their school bags at the Foyer Senator, home for refugees in Luxembourg-City run by Caritas , before school started mid-September.

It is a great way to encourage these children to feel integrated to the Luxemburgish social and educational system. All of them were very enthusiastic about the donation and the bags they received.
